Limits you should know

• Google lets a Gmail mailbox be read at up to 2.5 GB a day, so a large mailbox takes days. Ownpace keeps copying until all of it is in, and your old account works as usual meanwhile.

• Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drawings have no file to copy. They arrive in the format you choose: OpenDocument, Microsoft Office or PDF. Forms, Sites and My Maps have no export at all.

• Google lets no app read a whole photo library. Photos come only through a Google Takeout export, which you ask Google for and put in your new home’s files.

What you will do

• A buttonSign in with Google once and allow Ownpace to read what you tick: mail, calendars, contacts, Drive and tasks. For mail, calendars and contacts, Google describes a broader permission than Ownpace uses; Ownpace only reads. On a personal account an app password can stand in for mail, though Google advises against it.
• An export you ask forFor photos, ask Google for a Takeout export of Google Photos, and put it in a folder called Takeout at the top of your new home’s files.
